Introducing The Dolphins

The Dolphins will be the next club to join the NRL after the Australian Rugby League Commission accepted their bid to become the 17th team. Founded in 1947 and based in Redcliffe, The Dolphins will run out onto the field for the first time in Round 1, 2023.

Awarded their license on October 13 in 2021, the latest addition to the competition will have just over one year to put an NRL-quality squad together to be coached by Wayne Bennett.

“Today is an exciting moment in the history of our game. The NRL Telstra Premiership will expand to 17 teams in 2023 and on behalf of the Commission I would like to congratulate The Dolphins on being granted the 17th licence.”
